Department of Microbiology was established in the year 2000 with an Intake of 24 students and 3 faculty members. By the year 2007 the intake of students has raised up to 33 and the numbers of faculty members to five, our journey of 16 years had gained prominence as a department which possesses students filled with spirit of wisdom and knowledge enriched with skill required to fit the global competition.

Department of Microbiology had a MOU wit Sri Sai Aditya Foods Pvt. Ltd. (Fresh Choice), for conduction microbiological analysis of their raw and finished products from 1st September 2014 to 1st September 2015.

• Good equipped laboratories to allow students to gain hands on experience in various practical procedures

• Well learned faculty who inspire, and enrich the students with their knowledge

• Conduction of placement drives have placed our students in prestigious Organizations

• Conduction of Workshop & seminars has been a platform for our students to interact with resource persons who have been masters in their respective fields.

• Till date our department has organized 6 National and State level seminars and 2 workshops in collaboration with companies like Bangalore Genei and Helini Bimolecules and these were exclusively for our students

• Encouraging student projects have helped us in imbibing research oriented skills in the students.

• Maintenance of blood group data from the whole college is done by our students every year.

• Awareness programmes are conducted frequently in order to elevate a sense of responsibility among the students for the society.

• Department is operating exclusive Face book page and WhatsApp group to help the present and past students in employment and relocation

Department has organized one day Seminar *Recent advances in Bioremediation and Biotechnology* on 20th August 2006. Experts from different Universities delivered inspiring Lectures. Students have participated in poster presentation session very actively. Prizes were distributed to the best posters in valedictory session.

1. Organized a one day National seminar on "Applied Microbiological Concepts and Recent trends” on 24th February 2008

2. Organized "World water day Celebration" on 24th March 2008

3. Organized one day state level seminar on "New Frontiers in Biosciences" on 13 December 2009 in coordination with Departments of Biochemistry & Biotechnology

4. Organized workshop on "Human DNA Fingerprinting Techniques" on 31st March 2010 in collaboration with Helini Biomolecules, Chennai

5. Organized 2 day national seminar on "Changing Horizons of Applied Biology" during 11th December to 12th December 2010.
